Chewy and wholesome oatmeal cookies.

Add 1.5 cups of dried fruit or butterscotch morsels, or .75 tsp ground ginger, for more fun.

Preheat Oven to 350F

  1. Adjust oven racks to low and middle positions.

Prepare Ingredients

  1. In a large bowl, beat the butter until creamy.

  2. Add sugars and beat until fluffy. (about three minutes)

  3. Beat in eggs, one at a time.

  4. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg together.
    Stir into the butter mixture, using a spoon or spatula.

  5. Stir in the oats and any fruit or morsels being added.

    Optional fruit or morsels - Raisins, cranberries and butterscotch morsels are great in this recipe.
  6. Form dough into 2-inch balls and place on parchment lined baking sheet or seasoned bar stone.

Bake Cookies

  1. Bake at 350F for 11 minutes.

  2. Rotate cookie sheets (front to back and top to bottom). Bake for 11-14 minutes, until the edges turn golden brown.

  3. Cool the cookies on a parchment lined rack.
